North and South Twin Island
Max Depth: 40 m The gigantic boulders in this dive site form caves, swim-throughs and overhangs. There are lots of purple soft corals, large fan corals and table corals in this area. Among these you can find various colorful coral fish and turtles. The most sharp-eyed divers may even have a chance to see a rare black ribbon eel. In deeper waters you may see different kinds of larger schools of fish and leopard sharks, reef sharks and bull sharks as well as eagle rays and manta rays. High Rock
Max Depth: 25 m High Rock is a wall dive site with rocky sides covered with colorful corals. The walls are covered with green and orange corals and there you can also see moray eels, different kind of shrimps as well as octopuses sharing peacefully the same small crevice. Near the walls there are also big schools of for example barracudas and glass fish. Sea horses have made their new homes into the old fishing nets wrapped around the walls. There is also plenty of scorpionfish and stonefish in the area, so remember to be careful. Shark Cave
Max Depth: 30 m The biggest attraction in Shark Cave is its tame inhabitants, nurse sharks. In a cave which is 20 meters long and 5 - 16 meters deep and covered with corals you can run into other species of sharks, too. Diving in a cave requires good buoyancy control. In the north-eastern side of the dive site you can find a reef covered with hard coral which is inhabited by moray eels, stingrays, sea snakes and many other species you don't get to see often. In the south-western side of the dive site there is a wall full of life which extends to a depth of 30 meters. On the wall you can see different kind of shrimps, cuttlefish, sea horses and specific pipe-fish. Black Rock
Max Depth: 40 m This is one of the most popular dive sites in Burma. The area is full of different kinds of sharks and rays. The formations covered with soft coral and the breathtaking walls dropping down to depths attract many kind of sealife in big schools. Surrounded by green, yellow and orange corals you can follow hunting tunas, batfish or for example sea snakes. In its variety of different species Black Rock is a marvelous scale model of all the dive sites in Burma. Western Rocky Reef
Max Depth: 35 m Western Rocky Reef is a diverse dive site with walls as well as reefs. The specialty of the site is a cave going through the island with big lobsters and tame nurse sharks. On the reef you can find small nudibranchs as well as majestic whale sharks. |
