The passenger ferry was heading to Phi Phi Island in May 1997, when a navigational error took it miles away from its correct course. As a result, the ship collided with the Anemone Reef, tearing a huge hole in its bottom. Despite rescue attempts, the ship sunk within two hours and now lies in a depth of about 30 meters. Some of the ship structures rises to a depth of 16 meters. The King Cruiser is a catamaran, approximately 85 meters in lenght and 12 meters in width. All passengers and crew on board were rescued, and there were no casualities. Some of the deck structures have already collapsed and it is no longer safe to dive inside the wreck. The King Cruiser forms an artificial reef and you will find unbelieveble number of marine species around the wreck. Turtles, lionfish, scorpionfish, barracudas, trevallies are a common sight on the wreck.
