The Rescue Diver Course consists of four theory sessions: equipment, first aid, leading a dive and solving problematic situations. Normally the course lasts 2 - 4 days. The equipment sessions will familiarize you with dive equipment, noting the similarities and differences. The first aid sessions will help you identify and treat heat exhaustion, decompression sickness, and other diving related ailments. You will also practise administering medical oxygen, and treat minor dive related wounds, such as medusa and coral stings, sea urchin wounds and assorted scratches. The sessions about dive leadership will give you the ability to assess other divers skills and experience levels, environmental conditions and plan ahead for solving and preventing potential diver behavioral problems. In addition you will learn how to troubleshoot equipment failures underwater, how to manage diver air consumption, calm and control a panicing diver. You will also practise assisting a stressed diver, controlling a panic diver both underwater and on the surface, handling and resuscitating an unconscious diver as well as practise searching and locating a missing diver. All these excercises will take place in a pool or in confined water.

Rescue Diver Course is for Advanced Divers. The course is all about preventing dive accidents and giving you the necessary skills to pre-emptively deal with problems, both on the surface and underwater, before they develop into anyting more serious.
